Project overview
Making the green economy visible.
GreenGenXR was created to help young people understand that climate action isn’t only a cause — it is also a growing world of careers, skills and possibilities.
Through immersive films, career stories and live educational activations, we followed people working across renewable energy, urban sustainability and ecosystem restoration, giving audiences a first-person look at what the work actually feels like.
The project combined 360° storytelling with screenings, workshops and pop-up career exploration experiences, moving the conversation from:
“What is a green job?”
to:
“Could I see myself doing this?”

GREENGEN XR
IMMERSIVE CAREER EXPLORATION · GREEN ECONOMY · EDUCATION
Step inside the work
GreenGenXR was created to make the growing green economy feel more tangible to young people.
Through immersive films and live educational activations, audiences could step inside the workplaces and follow the people behind renewable energy, ecosystem restoration and urban sustainability — from Coopeguanacaste’s hydro, solar and wind operations in Costa Rica to Billion Oyster Project’s restoration work in New York Harbor and urban solar projects in Brooklyn.
The films were designed as a starting point rather than the whole experience. We brought them into schools, career events, green-jobs summits and youth programmes, pairing VR screenings with conversations about skills, education and emerging career pathways.
The goal was simple: help young people see what a green career actually looks like — and imagine themselves in it.
Step outside the work
GreenGenXR was designed to live beyond the films themselves. We brought the experiences into schools, career events, youth programmes and public pop-ups, using VR as a starting point for conversations about skills, education and pathways into the green economy.
Through screenings, workshops and events including green-jobs programming and teen career discussions, students could experience the work first — then meet practitioners, ask questions and connect what they had seen to real opportunities.

Step inside the work

Outcome
Making future careers easier to imagine.
GreenGenXR explored how immersive storytelling could bridge the gap between learning about the green economy and actually seeing yourself inside it.
By combining first-person career stories with live screenings and educational programming, the project turned sustainability from an abstract issue into something connected to people, skills and future opportunity.
It also became an early foundation for the kind of work Overview would continue developing across immersive learning and audience engagement: use technology to bring people closer to knowledge — then give them a reason to act on it.
